Andrea Soto
Andrea Soto graduated summa cum laude from the University of North Texas with a BA in Dance. In her nineteenth year of dance education in public schools, she currently teaches grades 4-8 at Rosemont in Dallas ISD where, in 2019, she was recognized as her campus “teacher of the year.” At Rosemont, she directs the Repertory Dance Company, a distinguished group that performs diverse classical, world and contemporary genres. Prior to her work at Rosemont, Andrea served as director of LHHS Folklorico at Lake Highlands High School in Richardson ISD. For twelve years she taught at Stockard Middle School in DISD where she established the dance program from the ground up. Ms. Soto is recognized as a Distinguished teacher through Dallas ISD and the Texas Education Agency. She has written Dance curriculum for DISD, serves as the Middle School Dance Facilitator for DISD and has presented for organizations including the Center for Educator Development in Fine Arts, the Texas Dance Educators Association and the Texas Association of Health, P.E, Recreation and Dance. She currently serves as chair of Cultural, Social Dance and Wellness for TAHPERD. Ms. Soto is a 200hr Certified Yoga instructor and integrates somatic practice in her holistic teaching approach. She is the proud Mom of two sons and enjoys traveling and outdoor activities with her family.
ABOUT THE COMPANY
Rosemont Dance Company is the student performing ensemble of Rosemont schools. It is comprised of two groups, the Rosemont Royals, and Rosemont Repertory. Both groups perform a variety of dance works at school and community events throughout the year. Rosemont Dance Company has been featured on WFAA news, at the TAHPERD Kaleidoscope concert, and the national dance society's virtual conference performance. Rosemont Dance Company seeks to serve our students, school, and community through meaningful learning experiences in dance education. Membership to Rosemont Dance Company is by audition. Tryouts are held in the beginning of the fall semester each year.
